When building a rate plan you can make it accessible via a specific promotional code in the following ways:

Promo Code in Rezlynx for internal use only for bookings via phone or email.
Rate Access Code hides the rate plan until the unique code is entered online or used in a deep link.
Discount Codes

This article covers Discount Codes only.

Create a Discount Code

You can create a Discount Code for multiple uses, or a One Time Discount Code that can only be used once.

⚠️Important: Codes must be unique within a site group. The system will not allow the same code to be created for multiple sites in the same group. If you need to use the same code across multiple sites, create the discount code at the CRS, Central Reservation System, level instead.

Discount Code

To create a Discount Code, follow the steps below:

Navigate within Rezlynx to System, Rates, then select Discount Codes.
Click + Create Discount.
Complete the information as required, including:
- Code - Choose any combination of letters, symbols and numbers, or select Generate Random.
- Description - Internal use only to describe what the code is about.
- Type - Choose from:
- Percentage: To apply a percentage reduction to the booking total.
- Fixed: To deduct a specific monetary amount from the booking total.
- Amount - Choose the discount percentage, or fixed value, that will be applied once the code is used.
- Booking creation from - to: Defines the date range the booking must be made in to have the discount applied.
- Staying from - to: Defines the date range for which the guest needs to stay at the property to have the discount applied.
- Maximum usage available: Defines the number of times that a discount code can be applied, if unlimited, use next field.
- No limit: Select to indicate that there's no limit on the number of times the code can be used.
- Applicable to: Choose how the discount will be applied, including:
  - Total: Applied to the entire booking - accommodation, plus any extra services booked via the DBM.
  - Rate Only: Applied to the accommodation charge but not to any extra services or products.
- Assigned rates: Indicates which rates the discount codes can be applied to.
Once set as required, click Save.

One Time Discount Code

To create a One Time Discount Code follow the steps below:

Navigate within Rezlynx to System, Rates, then select Discount Codes.
Click the down arrow next to Create Discount, and select Create one time discount.
Complete the information as required, including:
- Type - Choose from:
  - Percentage: To apply a percentage reduction to the booking total.
  - Fixed: To deduct a specific monetary amount from the booking total.
- Amount - Choose the discount percentage, or fixed value, that will be applied once the code is used.
- Booking creation from - to: Defines the date range the booking must be made in to have the discount applied.
- Staying from - to: Defines the date range for which the guest needs to stay at the property to have the discount applied.
Once set as required, click Save.

How the code is applied to Multi-room bookings

Discounts to multi-room bookings are calculated as follows:

First room: the amount discounted is applied to the first room for multi-room bookings, from which the total price and the amount to pay will be decreased by the discounted amount. The other rooms in the multi-room will stay at the original price.
Discount bigger than room price: the remaining part is applied following the same logic to the next room if existing.
Discount bigger than total booking price: the remaining part of the discount is lost.

Manage Discount Codes

Once created, discount codes are listed on the Discount Codes page, allowing you to:

Visualise each existing code.
Edit existing codes.
Delete codes.
Deactivate codes.

Share the Discount Code with your Guests

You share the rate access code with your guests in whatever way works best for your property.

Guests navigate to the DBM to make a booking and enter the discount code by:

Clicking on Do you have a promo code? in the top right of the booking screen.
In the booking summary page, guests can add the Promo Code.

When a valid discount code is entered, a green tick will show next to the code to show it is valid. The discount is applied directly to the search page - showing a striked-through price and the new discounted value. Within the basket there will be an indication of the discounted value or percentage, as shown below. The confirmation page also confirms the use of the code and the discounted value.

View used discount codes in Rezlynx

Once the booking is complete, the Rezlynx reservation will show:

Price Override: The reservation displays with an override price.
Distribution Notes: Under public Distribution notes, there will be a note indicating which discount was applied.
