Booking.com is an online travel agency (OTA) for reservations which has a direct connection to Guestlines' Distribution Hub.
We have several articles specific to the Booking.com channel, including:
Overview
Any property that has the Booking.com integration directly with Distribution Hub can now map the add-on codes provided by Booking.com to the upsell codes configured in Guestline Rezlynx. This allows delivery of the add-ons as upsells on the reservations.
To use this feature, you must have:
Booking.com integration directly with Distribution Hub (not via third-party connections like Best Western CRS).
Access to your Booking.com extranet portal.
Appropriate upsell products are configured in Guestline Rezlynx.
Key benefits of this feature:
Save staff time – no need to manually add the upsells to the reservation in Guestline Rezlynx.
Ensure correct cost of reservation – with the upsells delivered with the reservation, the total cost of the stay will be correct from the time the reservation is delivered.
Supported Add-ons
Booking.com currently only supports meals as additional services/add-ons:
Breakfast - Booking.com ID: 1
Lunch - Booking.com ID: 6
Dinner – Booking.com ID: 7
Configuration
To see meal upsells within Booking.com, follow the steps below:
Step 1: Booking.com configuration
Log in to the Booking.com extranet for the desired property.
Click on Property, then select Facilities & Services.
Scroll down to Meals, then select the checkboxes for meals you want to offer as add-ons.
⚠️ Important: If the checkbox for a meal is selected, the meal will be offered as an additional service during the reservation process on Booking.com. If left unchecked, the booker will still be able to see the price of the meal during the booking process, if prices have been defined, but they will not be able to add them to the reservation.
Ensure the Price at Property is set as required and that the Included in Room Rates is as required.
⚠️ Important: Meals can either be included in the rate or excluded. Meals included in the rate are already covered by the rate plan that the booker reserves, and no additional upsells are sent with the reservation.
When ready, click Save.
Step 2: Rezlynx product configuration
Log in to Rezlynx.
Navigate to System, Rates and then Products.
Create a product, ensuring you set the following features for this Booking.com item:
Product Code: Use a code that is clearly a Booking.com upsell item, for example BCOM_BFAST.
Charge mode: Per room, rather than per person as Booking.com send the number of people in the room as the quantity of the upsell.
Posting Mode: Select Day of Arrival and Resident Days.
⚠️ Important: Please note that even if the upsell is configured in Rezlynx as Resident Days and Day of Check Out, we will still deliver the upsells from Day of Arrival.
Click Save.
Step 3: Map Codes in Distribution Hub
Navigate to Guestline Mapping, in either of the ways outlined below:
In Rezlynx PMS select Distribution Hub, then under Connections select Mapping.
In Distribution Hub select Channels, then under Connections select Mapping.
Select the correct Property, then select Booking .com from the connection menu.
Select the Upsell tab.
Click Add Row.
Type in the PMS product and select the meal type within the Channel Rate section.
Click Save.
Repeat steps 3 to 6 for each of the additional services or add-ons that you have activated on Booking.com.
📌 Note: The default behaviour for this feature is that if we receive a reservation from Booking.com with an upsell that is not mapped we will deliver the reservation with a warning, advising that we could not send the upsell. You will need to manually add the upsell to the reservation in Rezlynx.
How upsells work during the booking process
Guest booking process
On the 'Enter your details' page on Booking.com, the number of nights and number of guests default to the add-on. Bookers can modify these settings as required.
This flexibility is why we deliver upsells from the day of arrival.
Delivery to Guestline Rezlynx
When the upsell is delivered into Rezlynx:
It will be delivered as a customised upsell.
It will override the Posting Mode of the upsell in Guestline Rezlynx - for example, if the posting mode is for 'Resident Days' and 'Day of Check Out', the upsell will be customised on the reservation as from 'Day of Arrival'.
It will be delivered into the Upsells tab of the reservation.
