Guestline Distribution Hub: Set Restrictions

Restrictions are rules that control when Rate Plans can and cannot be sold.

Restrictions are rules that control when Rate Plans can and cannot be sold.

Restrictions can be set within:

  • Rezlynx - Restrictions set manually within Rezlynx feed to the Distribution Hub and then up to online channels.

  • Distribution Hub - as discussed in this article. Restrictions set manually via Distribution Hub cannot be removed by Rezlynx updates, and will also not appear within Rezlynx restrictions. They do feed to online channels.

Types of Restrictions

⚠️Important: Restrictions set manually via Distribution Hub cannot be removed by Rezlynx updates and will also not appear within Rezlynx restrictions.

The following restrictions can be set in Distribution Hub:

  • Closed Restrictions

  • Open Restrictions - to reverse a close

  • Closed to Arrivals

  • Open to arrivals - to reverse a close to arrivals

  • Minimum Length of Stay

  • Close to Departures

  • Open to Departures - to reverse a close to departures

However, it is important to establish if the channel connected to the rate plan accepts the restriction.

⚠️Important: Currently, Distribution Hub does not support Stay Throughs, meaning that even if the channel offer the type of restriction, Distribution Hub cannot send it to the channel to apply​.


Accessing Set Restrictions

To access Restrictions, follow the steps below:

  1. Navigate to Distribution Hub, Configuration, Restrictions, then select Set Restrictions.

  2. Select the Property.

  3. Select the Restriction Type.

  • 📌Note: Each one is explained further below.


Closed Restriction

To set a Close restriction, follow the steps below:

  1. Select Close from the Restriction Type drop-down menu.

  2. Complete the fields as required:

    • Start/End Date: Enter the start date and end date that the restriction is to apply to.

    • Day of the week: Update the Days of the Week; only the days of the week ticked will be affected.

    • Channel: Each Channel to be affected by the restriction should be moved, from the left hand Channel window to the right-hand Channel window.

    • Room Type: Each Room Type to be affected by the restriction should be moved, from the left-hand Room Type window to the right-hand Room Type window.

    • Rate Code: Each Rate to be affected by the restriction should be moved, from the left-hand Rate Code window to the right-hand Rate Code window.

  3. Click Save and all the relevant channels/room types/ rates will be updated with the restriction.

Once saved​ the restriction will be displayed on the Restrictions Grid.


Open Restriction to reverse a close

​To set an Open restriction and reverse a close, follow the steps below:

  1. Select Open from the Restriction Type drop-down menu.

  2. Complete the fields as required:

    • Start/End Date: Enter the start date and end date that the restriction is to apply to.

    • Days of the Week: only the days of the week ticked will be affected.

    • Channel: Each Channel to be affected by the restriction should be moved, from the left hand Channel window to the right-hand Channel window.

    • Room Type: Each Room Type to be affected by the restriction should be moved, from the left-hand Room Type window to the right-hand Room Type window.

    • Rate Code: Each Rate to be affected by the restriction should be moved, from the left-hand Rate Code window to the right-hand Rate Code window.

  3. Click Save and all the relevant channels/room types/rates will be updated with the restriction.​


Closed to Arrivals

Closed to arrivals restricts when guests will be able to Arrive at the hotel.

To set a Closed to Arrivals restriction, follow the steps below:

  1. Select Closed to Arrivals from the Restriction Type drop-down menu.

  2. Complete the fields as required:

    • Start/End Date: Enter the start date and end date that the restriction is to apply to.

    • Days of the week: Update the Days of the Week; only the days of the week ticked will be affected.

    • Channel: Each Channel to be affected by the restriction should be moved, from the left hand Channel window to the right-hand Channel window.

    • Room Type: Each Room Type to be affected by the restriction should be moved, from the left-hand Room Type window to the right-hand Room Type window.

    • Rate Code: Each Rate to be affected by the restriction should be moved, from the left-hand Rate Code window to the right-hand Rate Code window.

  3. Click Save and all the relevant channels/room types/ rates will be updated with the restriction.

Once saved the restriction will be displayed on the Restrictions Grid.


Open to arrivals to reverse a close to arrivals

To set an Open to Arrivals restriction, to reverse a Closed to Arrivals, follow the steps below:

  1. Select Open to Arrivals from the Restriction Type drop-down menu.

  2. Complete the fields as required:

    • Start/End Date: Enter the start date and end date that the restriction is to apply to.

    • Days of the Week: Update the Days of the Week, only the days ticked will be affected.

    • Channel: Move each channel to be affected by the restriction from the left-hand Channel window to the right-hand Channel window.

    • Room Type: Move each room type to be affected by the restriction from the left-hand Room Type window to the right-hand Room Type window.

    • Rate Code: Move each rate to be affected by the restriction from the left-hand Rate Code window to the right-hand Rate Code window.

  3. Click Save, and all the relevant channels, room types, and rates will be updated with the restriction.


Minimum Length of Stay

To set a Minimum Length of Stay restriction, follow the steps below:

  1. Select Minimum LOS from the Restriction Type drop-down menu.

  2. Complete the fields as required:

    • Value: Enter the required minimum length of stay in the Value field.

    • Start/End Date: Enter the start date and end date that the restriction is to apply to.

    • Days of the Week: Update the Days of the Week; only the days ticked will be affected.

    • Channel: Move each channel to be affected by the restriction from the left-hand Channel window to the right-hand Channel window.

    • Room Type: Move each room type to be affected by the restriction from the left-hand Room Type window to the right-hand Room Type window.

    • Rate Code: Move each rate to be affected by the restriction from the left-hand Rate Code window to the right-hand Rate Code window.

  3. Click Save, and all the relevant channels, room types, and rates will be updated with the restriction.

Once saved, the restriction will be displayed on the Restrictions Grid.

⚠️Important: To reverse a Minimum Length of Stay restriction, enter 0 into the Value field across the date range.


Close to Departures

To set a Closed to Departures restriction, follow the steps below:

  1. Select Closed to Departures from the Restriction Type drop-down menu.

  2. Complete the fields as required:

    • Start/End Date: Enter the start date and end date that the restriction is to apply to.

    • Days of the Week: Update the Days of the Week; only the days ticked will be affected.

    • Channel: Move each channel to be affected by the restriction from the left-hand Channel window to the right-hand Channel window.

    • Room Type: Move each room type to be affected by the restriction from the left-hand Room Type window to the right-hand Room Type window.

    • Rate Code: Move each rate to be affected by the restriction from the left-hand Rate Code window to the right-hand Rate Code window.

  3. Click Save, and all the relevant channels, room types, and rates will be updated with the restriction.


Open to Departures to reverse a close to departures

To set an Open to Departures restriction, follow the steps below:

  1. Select Open to Departures from the Restriction Type drop-down menu.

  2. Complete the fields as required:

    • Start/End Date: Enter the start date and end date that the restriction is to apply to.

    • Days of the Week: Update the Days of the Week; only the days ticked will be affected.

    • Channel: Move each channel to be affected by the restriction from the left-hand Channel window to the right-hand Channel window.

    • Room Type: Move each room type to be affected by the restriction from the left-hand Room Type window to the right-hand Room Type window.

    • Rate Code: Move each rate to be affected by the restriction from the left-hand Rate Code window to the right-hand Rate Code window.

  3. Click Save, and all the relevant channels, room types, and rates will be updated with the restriction.


Stay Through

📌Note: Currently, Distribution Hub does NOT support Stay Through restrictions. Even if the channel offers this type of restriction, Distribution Hub cannot send it to the channel for application.
