Rate Plan Ceilings allow you to limit the number of rooms sold under a specific rate plan for a given period. This feature is useful for managing promotions or special offers where availability is intentionally restricted. This is a optional element when building a new rate plan.
To create a new ceiling, follow the steps below:
Navigate to Rezlynx, System, Rates and Ceilings.
Select New Ceiling in the bottom left of the screen.
Complete the following fields:
Code: A unique identifier upto 12 characters long. This cannot be changed after saving.
Description: A short summary of the ceilings. This can be altered at any time.
Select a Group to determine where this ceiling will be stored within the left-hand menu. This can be altered at any time.
🤓 Tip: You can create a new group by selecting New Group in the bottom left, then enter Code and Description and Save the new group.
Click Save at the top of the screen.
Scroll to the bottom of the new ceiling you have created, review the list of rate plans. Select which Available Rate Plan(s) the ceiling will apply to, and select the arrow button to move the rate plans from Available to Selected Rate Plans on the right.
🤓 Tip: to remove rate plans from the ceiling, select the left arrow to move them out of the Selected Rate Plans.
At the top of the screen, enter the Start and End date range for the ceiling, and select Refresh.
Set the ceiling by manually typing in the value, or by using pattern fill. Pattern Fill can be used to add ceilings over a longer period within a pattern.
To use the pattern fill feature: Select Pattern Fill. Select the Start and End dates you want to add the ceilings to - up to 3 months at a time. Enter the ceilings numbers on the relevant room type(s), or days, as required. Click Apply to apply this weekly pattern to the date range selected.
Set the ceilings in the following way:
Total rooms ceiling: The refreshed grid shows the properties total availability in the top row, within the free-type box enter the total number of rooms you wish to sell on rate plan(s). For example., entering 10 would enable the selling of upto max. 10 rooms only on the selected rate plan.
Room type ceiling: Once you have added in a total rooms ceiling, you can further restrict the sale to specific room types. Within the free-type box next to each room type, enter the number of rooms you wish to sell on the rate plan(s). The numbers must add up to the total at the top of the column.
⚠️ Important: To show online correctly a value has to be placed against a room type, if that room type is not to be used then a 0 must be inputted. Adding a ceiling will NOT restrict how many rooms will show available on online channels (i.e. OTAs & your own website), it will simply restrict the number of individual reservations that can be booked if a ceiling is set. Ceilings can also be set within Distribution Hub for online sales.
Click Save.
