It is important, when building a new rate plan to consider if a supplement is needed, as this is an optional element. Rate Plan Supplements allow you to adjust accommodation charges based on room occupancy levels. For instance, you might apply a discount for a third guest sharing a room. This guide provides clear steps to help you set up and manage these supplements effectively.

Access Supplements

To access the rate plan supplements section, follow the steps below:

  1. Navigate to Rezlynx, System, Rates, Supplements.

Create a new supplement

⚠️ Important: Only pricing for up to 5 occupants can be sent to online channels to be sold online, regardless of supplements etc.

To create a new supplement, follow the steps below:

  1. Click on New to create a new supplement.

  2. Enter the following details:

    • Code: A unique identifier for the supplement upto 12 characters long which cannot be changed once saved.

    • Group: Defines the storage location for the supplement within the left-hand menu.

    • Description: A brief explanation of the supplement's purpose.

  3. Click Save to store the new supplement. Continue with the steps in the section below to set up the bands for the supplement - these determine the date range and charges.

Configure and manage supplement bands

As with Rate Rules which can be banded (Seasonal Rules), Supplements can also be created with Bands, for example a single occupancy surcharge may not be charged during quieter times, e.g. Winter and Spring.

To add bands to a supplement, follow the steps below:

  1. On the left side, locate your new supplement under its Group. Click the arrow sign next to the Group to expand and view the supplements and their bands. Select Band 1 to edit its details.

  2. Adjust the Start and End Dates and Description for Band 1 as needed. Click Save.

🤓 Tip: The dates can run years into the future or bands can be added for seasons or sections of time as required.

  3. Once saved, the supplement rule screen will display two sections:

    • Charge Mode Daily Per Room: Use this if your rate plan charges per room.

    • Charge Mode Daily Per Person: Use this if your rate plan charges per person.

⚠️ Important: Edit the appropriate section based on your rate plans charging method or if the Supplement Rule is to be used on a mixture of both Rate Plan Types, then both sections of the Supplement Rule must be edited and completed.

  4. Within the required charge mode table, the supplements can now be set for the required number of occupants. There are 4 columns to complete within the table:

    • No. Occupants – Number of Guests per room, this will determine how the value of the Rate Plan will be affected depending on the level of occupancy in the room.

    • Rate Table – Attaching a rate Table will add on the value of that table, or reduce where minus (-) table values are present. More than one Rate Table can be used in a Supplement Rule if required. With a Rate Table in place you have the facility to exclude certain room types from having a supplement by not entering a value into the section. This way the supplement will also be able to be exposed to Roomlynx.

    • Modifier – The Parameters, how the value will change based on the parameters included, for example discount percentage or to use a flat rate for a certain amount of occupants. A rate table should be selected regardless of the modifier used.

      • Do nothing else allows the supplement to be created without applying any discounts to the Rate Table or Flex Table.

      • Discount percentage removes a specific percentage, which can be set per day, from the rate or flex table selected.
Important: Do not add a minus to the front of the discount value, otherwise this will turn it into a positive value.

      • Discount flat removes a specific value, which can be set per day, from the rate or flex table selected.

      • Use a specific days rate from the table for all room types, for all days of the week.

      • Use Flat Rate (No rate table req'd) and enter the Value to be used for all room types for any days of the week, therefore no flex or rate table is required and will be ignored if added.

⚠️ Important: Do not add a minus to the front of the discount value, otherwise this will turn it into a positive value.

    • Value - This box is only to be used if discounting a percentage or using a flat rate value, the amount or percentage required can be free-typed into this box.

  5. You can create multiple supplements within a single rule to accommodate various occupancy scenarios. Once set as required, click Save.

  6. To add more bands to cover different dates or seasons, select the Supplement and click New Band. Repeat steps 1 to 5 until set as required.
